May I ask what this group is about? I am an administrator, apparently, but there is very little in the group description. Posted 44 minutes ago. ( permalink | edit | delete ) view photos Sjeem is a group administrator Sjeem Pro User says:
@ gayheb: That's simple, post one, comment on the previos 10 photo's. That's all.
@ Chatallot: What do you mean exactly?
Can anyone tell me, was this group always a private one? Why is that, we all want this group to grow don't we? Anyone now if and how we can change this? Posted 27 minutes ago. ( permalink | edit | delete ) view photos Andyrob is a group administrator Andyrob Pro User says:
The group has been sabotaged by somebody who doesn't want shared admin groups to succeed.
The only way to reverse this now would be to organise an URGENT campaign to ask the owners at FLICKR to make an exception and unset the private flag, permanently. Originally posted 18 minutes ago. Ok thanks Andyrob. So how do we organise that? And if we manage to fix it, there will still be opportunity to sabotage other stuff (eg probably the same person had set the posting limit on zero, I've already reversed that by the way. This group has been sabotaged by whoever thought it was a bright idea to promote everyone to admin, actually.
The original issue with this group was that many members weren't complying with group rules about commenting and scoring, so that it was virtually impossible to get ten scores. Admins did nothing about this.
Now, everyone's been made an admin, there's no possibility of getting rid of the persistent offenders. It's ridiculous.
Shared admin groups can and do work, but only if admins work together to ensure that group members comply with the group rules and, if they don't, removing or banning them.
That's simply not possible with this group. It's fucked.
Anyone who wants to be part of a scoring group that works should join 10 to 1 - Post one, score AND COMMENT on 10 Originally posted 4 minutes ago. ( permalink | edit | delete ) dachalan edited this post 2 minutes ago. view photos Andyrob is a group administrator Andyrob Pro User says:
I think things like changing the posting limit and editing the group description can be easily fixed whenever they happen as long as there are many more people who care about the group than who want to hurt it.
The "private" thing is much more serious because the system is currently set up so that you can't reverse it, so that kind of kills off the group. Once you realise how big that vulnerability is, then it might not seem worth the bother of building a group that can be so easily sabotaged.
So we need to persuade the big system admins at Flickr to make a small change so that groups can opt out of having the option to go private.
We have nearly 2,000 members here so maybe our collective voice can make itself heard somehow. Basically, we need to kick up a fuss, and it needs to be a big fuss, and an urgent one.
