Books on Facilitation in the context of AR
Roger Schwarz has an approach to facilitation that's based on action science. It fits well with action research.
Schwarz, Roger M. (2002). The skilled facilitator: a comprehensive resource for consultants, facilitators, managers, trainers, and coaches, new and revised. San Francisco, Ca.: Jossey-Bass.
Chris Hogan is a highly skilled West Australian facilitator who has written a number of books. The following is recent and very practical:
Hogan, Christine (2003). Practical facilitation: a toolkit of techniques. London: Kogan Page.
Active AFN member Dale Hunter and her colleagues have written a series of facilitation books. Best know is probably:
Hunter, Dale; Bailey, Anne; and Taylor, Bill (1992). The Zen of groups: a handbook for people meeting with a purpose. Auckland, NZ: Tandem Press.
And then of course, among many other worthy books on facilitation, there's:
Dick, Bob (1991). Helping groups to be effective: skills, processes and concepts for group facilitation, 2nd edition. Chapel Hill, Qld.: Interchange.
