London Wiki Wednesday

2.1.1

Having planned an exhibition for an exclusively online, distributed audience, I was notified of a forthcoming 'London Wiki Wednesday" event with an opportunity to make a presentation. The registered audience and theme were strongly relevant to my research, and the timing coincided well with the planned online exhibition and
barn raising but the short time for preparation and change of plan presented a dilemma.
I turned to my peer group learning set in order to help me make the decision, and that worked well. See appendix (
Lset_opportunity ) The question which worked for me was from Eve Thirkle "Would you regret it if you didn't do it?"

Materials presented were:

Projected on wall:
1) ukcider wiki
3) DARnet wiki
4) Online Exhibition
5)
Barn Raising invitation
6) French translation

Printed Handout
*
Four Dichotomies (with name and URL)

Evaluation

From notes written immediately afterwards, I constructed a report with reflections: See Appendix
Wikiwed Notes

The main thing I learned from reflection was that the making of podcasts had helped prepare me for making a live presentation.

Looking back later, I believe that although there were few immediate tangible benefits (There was no formal feedback mechanism), the wiki wednesday presentation began the process of validating this research work, helped to strengthen weak ties from the online network and garnered invaluable support for the
barn raising event ( 1.3)
