term #3 Report 6 - Induction and online community module

overview

Learning outcomes 1-2 are to be self-assessed against the level 1 assessment criteria.

1.               Review your progress during year 1

2.               Profile your current skills against ‘Year 1 Undergraduate Skills’

3.               Set up a learning journal

Self-assessment activity:

Each of your modules is marked using the level 1 assessment criteria applied to your learning portfolio.

To help researchers better understand the assessment process; this module, which runs throughout the first year of the degree, will be self-assessed.   Your learning facilitator will then check your assessment and confirm your grade, explaining any differences between your assessments.

The Undergraduate skills will be the focus of the assessment that also acts as a review of your first year as an undergraduate researcher.  The assessment criteria that we use for the degree are developed from these.

In filling out the fields below you are making a claim for this 20 credit module at level 1.  To do this, you need to provide evidence of your claim and justify it.

The guidance in the ‘Evidence’ field indicates where we expect you to find evidence of meeting the criteria. Use this field to make your claim referring to your portfolio of work this year.

The level of analysis and clarity of your argument can also be assessed.  For example, if you didn’t consider ethical issues (assessment 1) for your action enquiry particularly well, this is an opportunity to reflect back on the enquiry and identify weaknesses and strengths in what you have done.

Work through each of the sections 1-7 indicating the level at which you would assess your achievement for each of the criteria.

My self assessments are presented on 7 separate web pages linked from below:

1. To what extent did you consider ethical issues while planning and undertaking your research?

2. To what extent have you demonstrated analytical  skills in your Ultraversity work?

3. To what extent have you demonstrated an understanding of theory and how it relates to your practice?

4. To what extent did you collaborate and engage with other Ultraversity researchers?

5. To what extent have you used ICT appropriately in planning and presenting your research?

6. To what extent have you shown that you can express ideas and provide a coherent and structured discussion.

7. To what extent have you understood this task and met the learning objectives?
