Spinning Plates
After a while, the emergent nature of my research design took over from the orginal plans as opportunities arose and one thing led to another, with cycles of nested DAR running concurrently, merging and overlapping all over the place, with time for reflection and documentation sometimes having to give way to the pressing need, which felt a bit like running around trying to keep an ever increasing number of plates spinning without crashing to the ground. To try and make sense of it all within the cyclical action research methodology, and to show me what's still missing, I drew up a tabular list with column headings for:
Situation , Action taken , Data collected , Outcomes/Findings , Reflections , Findings about the process , DAR Wiki Page , Conclusions / What next?
If you want to delve deeper down into the activities you can access the page Spinning the Plates from which it should be possible to get hopelessly lost.
See figures 3 & 4 in More diagrams for a graphical representation of the relationships and feeds in and out of the small and larger cycles.
