Regulus regulus

Regulus regulus, originally uploaded by namq.

The common Goldcrest is becoming common in East London but you have to be very quick to spot them, they are very small and fast. Smaller than a bird, bigger than a bee.

These little things zip about so quickly it’s difficult to know what’s just flown past. Too small for a bird, too fast for an insect.
