I'm glad you're finding the action logging useful Geraldine, I'm back on the process myself this month! If you can combine the positive logging with a genuine reflective practice it can become quite powerful, I think.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi Andy

Came across you whilst researching my reflective statement for my Uni course, a grey Sunday afternoon and I'd much rather watch a film, hey ho!

Really took on board your AL method, think I'll adopt it here on in, will certainly make my life easier for the next ones coming up!

Go well

Andy, thanks for the follow reflection. It turns out that I started my first AL on 1 May and have approximately 20 ALs captured for May. Weekends are not always written up I have noticed.

I like your analogy about the AL being an emergency measure. Once restored, the patient can then get back to creating a plethora of to-do lists and task cards and .... Wait! Sorry, I got that all wrong.

Seriously, as I mentioned in previous comments, just documenting what got done helps restore some balance for me. For me one apt analogy is to budgeting. The reason I keep a budget is to let me know what I spend my money on. When I know this I can then discover what I think about it. And I think this is what your reflection is about as well.

It would be salutary to come back to ALs periodically to see if and how they're working for us. Or maybe just me.

Oooh. I can note that I commented on your blog. w00t!
