Total eclipse of the Moon February 20, 2008

Posted by Andy Roberts in : astronomy for beginners, UK , trackback

There’s a total eclipse of the moon tonight, well tomorrow morning really, the last until December 2010. So if you’re feeling a little insomniac at 3.00am, get up make a cup of hot rooibos tea and look out of the window or go out onto the balcony or garden. The last few nights have been very clear so there’s a good chance of great views of the total lunar eclipse.

Why do ya think I’m so goddam eager to blast a rickety ol’ satelite outa existence, under the pretence of saving the planet from its ‘toxic fuel’? You play with your toys, I’ll play with mine. Heheheh…

Couldn’t tell you what time it is Stateside but, this side of the pond, I have an uninterrupted view of clouds. The only red thing I’ve seen so far (not counting night buses) has been a fox… Ah well. Hope you all have better luck!

Th full white moon eventually turned into an psycho moon, swtiching from crescent to new and crescent new. The moon is high tonight.

Spent an hour from 3.00am on Tunbridge Wells common with my boy Alex and his telescope - couldn’t see a single thing! Just uninterrupted cloud - NOT forecast by the BBC! Roll on 2010 . . .
